That took only 4 minutes, and I don't even know my own keyboard yet. Why dots for plural? Well doesn't it make more sense? More intuitive? The main reason though is that an "X" implies a "crossing out" and so instinctively conflicts with the intended meaning. Plus the entire world now is used to an "X" meaning closing an app, which is like crossing out. Now look at the symbol for "first" below. Doesn't that more directly and clearly express that idea?
